Old Enough To Comprehend, Young Enough To Dream
Correspondence (a fiction) turns ten years old this November, and I want to celebrate it
Hi, and welcome. You can read this post for free, or listen to me read it by becoming a paid subscriber — a pretty-cheap way to support me as a writer. I appreciate you. ❤️
My love, when we first set sail and pushed off to sea, I stood at the bow looking backward, dry-eyed and imagining that the world — in all of its color, grandeur and majesty — had been devastated by the same flood I’d seen when I told you that my father was making me leave…
It’s hard to believe that ten years have gone by since the day I recorded Correspondence (a fiction) in my then-sister-in-law’s closet — a clumsy, hour long voice memo I read and recorded and sent to
and said:“Hey man, can you make some music that sounds however this story makes you feel?”
But I’ll be darned! It has been a decade since my twenty-four-year-old self sent that text, and I want to celebrate it. I’ve got a few ideas brewing as to how, but for now, what I want to explore is a special, ten-year repressing of the Correspondence story to vinyl.
I get asked pretty regularly whether or not I have any copies hidden in some cobwebbed corner of a shed I don’t own, and the answer is: no. I don’t. Even I don’t have a copy of my own favorite album, and right now, the only one I know of that’s available for sale is sixty-two bucks on Discogs. It’s quite the honor, but…
I’d love to press a run to celebrate what I know is most everybody’s favorite record, re: my discography. So, here’s my blatant ask: who’s in? Who’s interested? Who wants to buy a 10-year celebration pressing?
I’m planning, and I’d love to get a gauge on exactly how hard I can go on this thing. I’m not sharing any artwork / previews / etc. at this point, because you gotta keep the exciting stuff under wraps until it’s time to really — in the words of Will Ferrel — “get the people goin!” you know?
You know.
So, then… let me know. You can like or comment here, respond to the email you get in your inbox that’ll come straight to me, send me a virtual Promise Ring directly at hello@levithepoet.net, participate in today’s Instagram poll, or start screaming into the void about it, but do it, please!
(And tbh: screaming into the void is fine but also it would be helpful if, in addition to that, you participated in something measurable.)
Of course, once I get some details sorted, you can expect to see more info, rollout, preorders, etc. start to happen.
Okay! (For now…)
This album means so much to me. I’d love to buy a vinyl of it, especially one marking ten years of having it in my head.
I would buy a vinyl
